CHEMEX
Coffee from a Chemex is very similar to that of a drip. Suitable for those who enjoy a clean, smooth and flavourful cup of coffee.
-
Step 1
Unfold the filter paper and place it into the Chemex. Ensure the triple fold portion is facing the pour spout.
-
Step 2
Rinse the filter paper with hot water, then discard the water through the pour spout.
-
Step 3
Add the grounded coffee beans to the filter paper (at a ratio of 50 grams of coffee to 700g of water). Aim for the coffee beans to be a medium coarse grind.
-
Step 4
Pre infuse the coffee by pouring 100grams of the water (95 degrees celsius) over the grounds in a circular motion and wait around 50 seconds for the coffee to bloom.
-
Step 5
Slowly pour the remaining water in a circular motion making sure the water level stays below the top of the coffee maker.
-
Useful Tip
Aim to brew the coffee in around four minutes. If it brews too fast try a finer grind, similarly if brews too slow try using a coarser grind. Try not to pour straight onto the filter paper to avoid the coffee tasting papery.
