About Wanale Ridge
The Wanale Ridge is one of the most prominent geological features of Mount Elgon, an extinct volcano on the border with Kenya and believed to be the oldest volcano in Africa.
Its vast base and gentle slopes provide an ideal environment for thousands of smallholder farmers, who cultivate Arabica coffee across a broad elevation range of 1,200 to 2,200 meters above sea level. The region’s volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, high altitude, and ample sunshine all contribute to the exceptional terroir of Mount Elgon.
