About Santa Luz Estate
Hacienda Santa Luz, purchased in 2003, was transformed from an abandoned lot into a sustainable coffee plantation. The farm replanted diverse coffee varieties and built a professional organization that manages all operations, including export.
With 105 hectares suitable for coffee growing, the farm adheres to Rainforest Alliance standards, ensuring environmental sustainability. It has adopted high-yielding and disease-resistant coffee varieties and built an eco-friendly processing plant. Additionally, 30 hectares are preserved as forest.
Located in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, Hacienda Santa Luz benefits from a unique microclimate. CEO Ricardo Herrera and General Manager Marco Tulio Gonzalez lead the farm with a team of 50 permanent workers and 400 seasonal pickers. Herrera has experience from Colombia and Costa Rica, while Gonzalez holds an MBA in industrial engineering.
There's not much crema in the espresso even at higher temp, acidic but quite pleasant without leaving a dry mouth with and a hint of apricot and citrus.
For espresso I would recommend higher ratio for the best result.
